Best Practices for Taking Care of Your Egyptian Cotton Clothing

You are now the proud owner of Egyptian Cotton Tshirts Clothing made of 100% authentic Egyptian cotton! We want you to keep enjoying the smooth softness of your new clothing for years to come, and with that in mind, we offer the following care tips.

Laundering

Following are our recommendations for cleaning.

  • Soap / Detergent: environmentally-friendly soap leaving no irritants, soap, or fragrance.
    • Trader Joe's "Next to Godliness" brand
    • Country Save HE Laundry Detergent Powder
    • Seventh Generation Free & Clear
    • ARM & HAMMER® Powder Laundry Detergent, Perfume & Dye Free
    • Least irritating for people with multiple chemical sensitivities – baking soda and vinegar --
      • 1/2 cup of baking soda in the detergent dispenser
      • FILL completely BOTH the bleach & fabric softener dispensers with white vinegar (so it goes in both the wash load & the rinse load)
      • Borax (1/2 cup to 1 cup) and baking soda can be mixed for tough loads
  • Make sure that all the soap rinses out completely
    • Your choice of detergent matters as noted above
    • Don’t use too much detergent; use as little as possible to clean clothes
    • Washing machine settings: choose extra rinse cycles if available
  • Do NOT use fabric softener; especially do NOT use the sheets that go in the dryer. (Fabric softener coats the soft natural fibers with a petroleum-based coating.)
  • Do NOT over-heat the fabric by drying too much or drying on a high heat setting. High heat makes the cotton brittle, thereby lessening the possible softness.
    • Try line-drying your items for at least part of the process
    • You can partially dry them in the dryer and then hang them or lay them flat until dry
    • OR, you can line-dry for most of the drying and then put them in the dryer for 5 minutes or so
    • You can dry your items completely in the dryer, but use medium heat or settings that do not over heat the fabric
  • Feel free to use your favorite spot-remover.
    • We’ve had success with Resolve (formerly Spray n Wash)
    • You can also use the oxygen stain-fighting additive (like OxyClean) to get more power against stains, or exceptionally clean t-shirts
  • First time:
    • If you launder your items, then you cannot return them; so please check the fit first
    • For sensitive skin, better softness and optimum cleanness against your skin, it is best to launder your Egyptian Cotton clothing before wearing

Storage

Store your items out of direct sunlight.

Wet T-Shirts

  • When items get wet from water fun or sweating, do not leave them clumped up and damp
  • Spread them out so that they dry, or wash them within 8 hours
  • This is to prevent any mold growth or rotting of the fabric
